Booloumba

Kenilworth Forest camping and day-use areas

Several kilometres off the Conondale - Kenilworth road waits the charming Booloumba Creek area of the Kenilworth Forest.

This well-maintained and serviced facility offers day trippers and campers an intimate meeting with the rainforest in a convenient and ordered environment.

Whether you have just minutes to spare on your journey or you want to "get back to nature" for a week or more - Booloumba Creek will revitalise and invigorate your spirit. Ideal for familys who want to expose the young to a vanishing part of our planet's heritage.

The whole area shows ample signs of meticulous maintenance.

The walking tracks are well-signposted for the convenience of visitors.

All the obvious works in the area show signs of a loving and skillful labour.

Here the steps are delightfully studded with local pebbles and blend effortlessly into the environment.

This attention to detail has achieved a remarkable symbiosis between the natural environment and the development necessary to make this area available to the many.

The Signs of Booloumba Creek

Just so you are fully-informed about the conditions prevailing at Booloumba Creek (as they were in June, 2002). Here is a selection of the informational signs sprinkled throughout the area:-

This diagram show the 3 camping areas (1,3 &a

mp; 4) and the day-use area (2), together with the recognised walks and the creeks.

Areas 1 and 3 require pre-booking, whereas areas 2 and 4 welcome casual callers and campers.

Area 4 is also well-suited for large groups to share the experience.

Enquiries about booking a campsite can be made on (07) 5446 0925 - the sign predates the 8-digit telephone numbering.

One of the first signs you'll meet on the road in.

Given this admonition - the prudent camper might be well-advised to bring their own sign bearing the legend "ENJOY YOURSELF".

Although, given the excellence of the conditions here, that may be superfluous.

Areas 1 and 3 are quite well-defined and space is, quite appropriately, limited.

The authorities have adopted this stance to ensure that pitched battles over tent pitching are kept to a civilised minimum.

This also offers sound advice - there is one main road through the site with side roads leading to the areas.

And finally - here is the official description of the different areas - complete with pictures for those who appreciate graphics:-
