Murri @ H'Art

an exhibition of TRIBAL DREAM ART by Michael Connolly & friends

Organised by Michael & Jo Connolly of Dreamtime Kullilla-Art

an Indigenous Art Presentation in the H'Art of Redcliffe

OUR ART - OUR WAY - OURSELVES

Murri @ H'Art is the first exhibition by a core group of 4 independent Aboriginal Artists who have collectively brought together a presentation of a unique range of Aboriginal Art & Craft to be held at the Seaside Artists Gallery on the Redcliffe Peninsula opening on Saturday 8th May 2004.

The artists are: The exhibition which is entirely & proudly self-funded, will display artworks in a variety of sizes and styles ranging from landscapes to urban contemporary to traditional as well as a collection of handpainted uniquely shaped didgeridoo lamps, tables and wine racks by master craftsman, Michael Connolly. This drug and alcohol free event is being catered by Dale Chapman-Scott of the Dilly Bag who is preparing a smorgasboard of delicious & interesting bush tucker food and entertainment by Adrian Burragubba, Aboriginal Didgeridoo player and dancers.

The exhibition will also be raising funds for the World Vision Indigenous Partnerships Linking Hands program. Aboriginal people have the worst health of any indigenous population in a developed country and this program helps young Indigenous children who are suffering from malnutrition, life-threatening diseases and depression and is a program dear to the hearts of the Artists. Admission to the exhibition will cost a gold coin and a small charity auction will also be conducted on the opening night to help raise funds for this very worthy cause. Michael will also be donating all monies raised from the sale of his range of postcards, giftcards and posters that will be available throughout the 2 weeks of the exhibition.

These 4 enterprising Indigenous Artists are striving to increase the awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture, history and heritage and thereby gaining respect for their People and their Art. It is their aim through the presentation of this exhibition to inspire and motivate other Aboriginal Artists [young & old - brother & sister] to be confident and proud enough to do the same for themselves.
